Specialist Rug Cleaning in Lewes
More homeowners areĀ investing in area rugs, they add colour and soften stripped or hard floor surfaces. Rugs come in many different shapes and sizes, containing different fibres, including wool, silk, cotton and man made fibres. Rugs will hold considerable amounts of dry soil, ranging from sand, grit, dust, skin cells and much more, therefore when following the correct cleaning method, dry soil removal is of paramount importance.
Our process involves extensive dry soil removal ~
Firstly, the rug face is vacuumed, using an industrial SEBO vacuum cleaner. The rug will then be placed face down on a protective sheet, the back of the rug is now vacuumed, the vibration effect of this process will dislodge considerable amounts of dry soil, the evidence is there on our protective sheet (one rug cleaned recently released an incredible 3lbs of dry soil) this is often hard to believe. Extensive dust contained in a rug will prematurely shorten the life of the fibres.
After dry soil removal, our non toxic cleaning solutions are massaged into the fibres using our Envrodri contra rotation soft brush machine. Solution is then manually brushed into carpet fringes. Extraction cleaning is then administered, using softened and filtered water, this process is a safe and effective way of thoroughly cleaning rugs.
After cleaning has taken place, rugs are groomed to re set the pile, if we are cleaning rugs at our shop, we will hang rugs in our drying room, air is gently passed over the fibres, leaving the rug feeling almost ‘as new’.
Good quality rugs are a wise investment, following the correct cleaning procedure will see them lasting for many years.
